Disaster Relief, Reconstruction & Recovery
Given India’s size and population, disasters are expected to occur annual. Their type, form, duration and location cannot be predicted, but we know that the poor and weaker elements of the society are the most vulnerable. In such events, it is crucial to that our aid is quickly and effectively applied for those in India.
Our long standing relationships with NGOs in India provide us a quick mechanism to respond. Working through WWForum we were able to effectively help to coastal villages in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu rebuild from the Tsunami. IDS has also supported reconstruction projects after the Gujarat earthquake and Orissa cyclone.
