Sustainable Development

In April of 2012 and 2013, IDS and IDCA co-sponsored its first and second “Midwest Student Conference on Sustainable Development in India” at DePaul University. The conference featured hands-on projects developed and implemented by U.S. students in conjunction with Indian NGOs. Students came from a range of disciplines, including business, geography, public policy, health, and the social sciences, and presented to all conference attendees, facilitating a creative cross-fertilization of ideas. The presentations engaged the participants and reflected a spontaneous hands-on involvement and learning, which generated a level of excitement and interest not typically seen at academic conferences.
