This project empowered adolescent girls through education, leadership, and life-skills training, enabling them to become self-reliant, continue their education, and advocate for gender equality.

With support from IDS, Milaan implemented the Girl Icon Program to empower adolescent girls with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to become self-sufficient and community leaders. The program encouraged girls to continue their secondary education, improve their health and well-being, and build the leadership and life skills necessary for long-term personal and professional success. The initiative also raised awareness about gender equality, girls' rights, and the prevention of gender-based discrimination and violence, while encouraging delayed marriage beyond the legal age of 18. Through mentoring, leadership development, and community engagement, participants became advocates for positive social change within their families and villages. By investing in the education and empowerment of adolescent girls, the project helped create a new generation of confident young women capable of improving their own lives and inspiring change in their communities.
