Vikas Bharati is a rural development initiative operating in tribal areas of Bihar, aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of marginalized communities. IDS continued its financial support for the project in 1987, ensuring the continuity of its grassroots efforts. Dr. Rakesh Popli, one of the founders of the project and the IDS coordinator, played a key role in guiding its development. During this period, he relocated to Ranchi, which is closer to the project area, enabling more direct involvement and oversight. The project focuses on sustainable development and empowerment of tribal populations through localized interventions.
