Abstract
This project trained marginalized youth in research, leadership, and communication skills, empowering them to become confident community researchers and changemakers.
Detailed Description
The Barefoot Researchers Project equipped 40 marginalized young people with practical skills in research, communication, leadership, and teamwork. Through hands-on training in people management, financial management, team dynamics, and participatory research methods, participants strengthened their ability to understand community issues and contribute to local development initiatives.
The program emphasized experiential learning, helping youth build confidence, improve critical thinking, and develop effective communication and problem-solving skills. By nurturing local leadership and research capacity, the project empowered participants to engage with their communities, document local challenges, and support informed decision-making for sustainable social change.
