GIVING TUESDAY

Khushboo and Rajni from Uttar Pradesh have come a long a way to address barriers to education and fighting against archaic social restrictions for girls through “I Am Girl Icon” project from Milaan that your donations have helped to fund:

As 2019 comes to a close, India Development Service (IDS) would like to reflect on many such projects that we have successfully adopted with your support. Not only we were able to fund 13 projects in the areas of education/training, empowerment, healthcare, income generation, and environmental causes, we also celebrated the life and legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, a man whose selfless actions led India to become the inspiring nation it is today. At the 150th celebration of Gandhi on October 19th, we were reminded of the power of peaceful reform and revolution.

Following in Gandhi’s footsteps, IDS works to support organizations that too have ideals of reforming India. These organizations are small but impactful, working in backward communities across the country to provide the opportunities and tools for disadvantaged individuals to be their own catalysts for change.

This year, IDS has supported a variety of organizations that address specific needs in urban and rural communities throughout the country. We began providing new funding for the Millaan project, a program that empowers adolescent girls through a leadership program in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh; the Maina project, which provides breast cancer screening in low-income communities in Mumbai; and the Bhungroo project, a water retention and conservation project in Saline Lane, Gujarat, amongst others.

We are so proud of the work of these organizations, and we hope that you will make a donation to IDS again this year to ensure that we can continue supporting organizations like these do the necessary work in some of India’s most impoverished communities.

IDS holds steadfast to its values of providing seed funding to grassroots projects so that they can establish their own programs and networks and become self-sustaining organizations in the long-run, and we analyze each project to ensure that the organization’s goals are aligned with these values. We support organizations that are dedicated to working toward the advancement of their own, and we could not do that without your generous and loyal support. Please consider donating to IDS on GIVING TUESDAY.

P.S. Please consider gift giving with AmazonSmile with India Development Service. IDS gets .05 of your purchase.
