Abstract

This project used the power of play to support children's learning, creativity, and overall development by improving access to educational toys and play-based learning opportunities.

Detailed Description

With support from IDS, OpenTree implemented the Toybank – Development Through Play program to empower children through structured, play-based learning. Recognizing play as a fundamental right and an essential part of childhood development, the initiative provided educational toys and engaging activities that fostered creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, communication, and emotional well-being. The program worked with children from underserved communities, creating safe and inclusive spaces where learning could take place through play. By integrating educational games and interactive activities into children's daily experiences, the initiative helped improve cognitive development, social skills, confidence, and school readiness. Through the power of play, the project encouraged holistic child development while ensuring that every child had the opportunity to learn, grow, and reach their full potential in a nurturing and supportive environment.
