When lockdowns began, thousands of AVANI-supported families lost their only source of income, collecting and reselling recyclable waste. The travel bans disrupted the distribution of food and supplies, making it difficult to procure food for those in need. With the support of an IDS grant, and the resilience and persistence of the AVANI team, AVANI purchased food supplies and distributed 500 food relief kits to AVANI families in need.
