GRAVIS

Improving the lives of mine workers

Categories: EmpowermentHealthcare

Year(s): 2018

Location: Rajasthan

GRAVIS works to combat tuberculosis and silicosis in sandstone mines in the Thar Desert of Rajasthan. Funding from IDS is used in areas which are remote, underprivileged, and far from government resources. GRAVIS reached 2,000 mine workers, their family members, and mine owners. The ground team actively identifies mine workers with symptoms of either disease and links them with diagnostic and treatment services under the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme. 543 people were impacted by these interventions.
