Categories: EmpowermentIncome Generation

Year(s): 2018

Location: Madhya Pradesh

The goals of this project were to strengthen women financially and socially, to nurture their leadership skills through education, and to work for the promotion of women's livelihood. The program was implemented in 30 villages in Khirkiya block of Harda district. Ten Sakhi Manch (women's forums) were organized in 10 villages to address issues of local self-governance relating to school, anganwadi, and Gram Panchayat. The team helped the women take advantage of various government-run schemes. In addition, 81 SHGs (with 840 members in all) were formed, providing not only camaraderie among the women, but also a new platform for their leadership skills.
