Categories: EnvironmentIncome Generation

Year(s): 2019

Location: Uttarakhand

Project HEALTH (Himalayan Ecosystem And Livelihood Through Herbiculture) was initiatied in May 2019 as an enthusiastic mission to restore the tarnished ecosystem of Uttarakhand Himalayas, which has been spoiled over the years due to recurrent forest fires in the region. The project has successfully planted 5,000 herbal saplings in various village/clusters of Tehri Garhwal in Uttarakhand. These include 2,500 saplings of Rosemary and 2,500 saplings of Dandelion. The project was successful in planting the remaining 2,000 fruit and fodder bearing plants, which included Amla, Reetha, Oak, and Bheemal during monsoon and post-monsoon in the region to support the community with a more reliable source of income and fodder for their livestock.
