SEWA Rural has been involved in medical and development activities in Bharuch and Narmada districts of Gujarat since 1980. As of December 31, SEWA Rural tested 202,102 individuals for COVID-19. With a COVID-19 relief grant from IDS, SEWA Rural purchased 34,984 triple layered masks, 2,299 N95 masks, 2,660 liters of alcohol-based sanitizer, a few thousand hand gloves, and 200 face shields. These funds protected the hospital staff, and out of 225 staff members, only 10 became infected with COVID-19 over ten months with no fatalities. SEWA Rural believes in collaborative partnerships with local communities, national and international organizations, governments, and educational institutions. Through their extensive network, SEWA Rural ensures that they reach the most needy people of tribal and rural communities and make a long-term positive impact in their lives.
