Abstract
This project strengthened emergency healthcare during the COVID-19 pandemic by providing oxygen concentrators to improve access to lifesaving oxygen therapy for patients in rural Uttar Pradesh.
Detailed Description
With support from IDS, the International Village Clinic purchased oxygen concentrators to meet the urgent healthcare needs of patients during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in Marufpur, Uttar Pradesh. At a time when medical oxygen was in critically short supply across India, the equipment provided essential respiratory support to patients requiring immediate care.
The oxygen concentrators were used continuously from June through September 2021, helping the clinic deliver timely treatment until the second wave subsided and oxygen supplies became more readily available. By strengthening local healthcare capacity during a public health emergency, the project improved access to critical medical care and helped protect vulnerable communities during the pandemic.
