In February 2015, IDS board members Nilesh Kothari and Nila Vora, along with Jerome McDonnell and Steve Bynum of WBEZ, visited Vidnyanvahini during their trip to India.
IDS supported this project, which was the brainchild of former IDS board member Dr. Madhukar Deshpande and his wife Pushpa. The couple spent 29 years in the US as math teachers and founded Vidnyanvahini upon their return to India in 1995.
According to Vidnyanvahini’s website, the flagship activity of the project is the Mobile Science Laboratory (MSL). This recent article from thebetterindia.com describes the project and its history.
