Our second school for rag pickers’ children is up and running after a fire last fall  burned down the school and devastated the rag picker community. Fortunately, there were no fatalities. The objective of the rag picker school is to provide high quality education on site so students can easily transition into the government educational stream. To ensure relevance and a high degree of participation, we plan to include activity-based learning as part of the pedagogy.   Our new location is in Ghaziabad on the outskirts of Delhi. The community is situated behind a hotel and there runs its micro enterprises. It was a rather cold day and I noticed that the children were shivering; we might need to provide warm clothing and create an enclosed facility. The children seem pleased to have the opportunity to study and receive the provided services.
