New Schools for Rag Picker Children in National Capital Region

Last year, working with India Pollution Control Association (https://www.ipcaworld.co.in ) IDS opened two schools in the National Capital Region (NCR) for children of rag pickers. Based on the successful outcome of these pilot schools, IDS sought to launch opening additional educational outlets.

We are proud to announce that IDS opened three new schools  Monday, March 3rd, 2014, in the NCR. Our goal for the next few years is to open five more schools for children of rag pickers, which will reach a total of about 250 children. Long-term, we plan to create a network of approximately forty schools catering to the rag-picker community and its families. Activity-based learning (ABL) and storytelling are used as primary educational modalities.
