Our hostel and orphanage in Gajipathinagram, Andhra Pradesh (AP) bounced back after political instability the last few months due to the anticipation of AP splitting into two separate states. During this time, the hostel was shut down for almost a month and disrupted exams. Nonetheless, the student average score for the unit 1 test was 78% while the median score was 81%. Education for the female student body is strongly encouraged and highly emphasized. Currently, female students are outperforming the male student body by recognizable margins. The new hostel supervisor’s competency in English appears to be having a positive effect on the students, which is reflected in their high marks in English.
